It's gut check time for this Sea chickens squad that many had pegged to cruise to a NFC West Championship this season; including me. A win here all but wraps it up for them, but a second loss to the Rams would make things a hell of a lot more harder down the stretch. Seattle has rattled off two wins in a row, albeit vs. suspect teams, but they won the games nonetheless. I'll be the first to tell you that this Seattle squad has single handedly kept my NFL season a mediocre one up until last weekend, but I just can't resist. They had this same STL squad beaten to a bloody pulp at the half of their first meeting this season. They then decided to take their foot off the gas pedal and saw their 17-point halftime lead get squandered, which ultimately cost them the win in OT. My numbers had them installed as 8-point home chalks in that game, and surprisingly, they have them installed as nine-point road chalks the second time around. ST. Louis has lost two of their L/3 games since that encounter, while Seattle's split their L/4. The Seahawks won their first two games of the season on the road, but lost their next back-to-back road outings SU & ATS. They looked to be in trouble once again last weekend vs. a desperate SF squad, but they pulled away in the second half for the SU win and cover. This Seattle squad is at least 10 points better than STL on any field, they just have to realize it. They will this afternoon. Seattle needs to keep their gameplan simple, and they should get the job done without a problem. This is a much different STL team than in the past as evidenced by their current two-game skid and the fact that they've lost two of the four home games SU and been pushed to the limit in their two home wins. Look for Seattle's offense to utilize the running of RB Alexander as much as possible, and to look to dump the ball of quickly whenever the Rams decide to blitz. They also need to use a high percentage attack to keep the STL "O" on the sidelines. Then on defense, look for them to only rush four and blitz occasionally hoping to force the Rams into 3rd and long situations. STL's O-Line is in shambles, so look for Seattle to have success by rushing just their front 4. The last, but most important tactic the Seahawks have to carry out is to contain RB Faulk. The Rams have had success whenever he's gotten off this year although HC Martz for some unrenowned reason has been hesitant to go to him more than 15 times a game. The Rams "D" is giving up 7.7 points per 100 yards this season, 4.6 YPC, and 7.0 yards per pass. That means Seattle's offense should be able to perform at will against this unit. Seattle's "D" is giving up 5.8 points per 100 yards, 3.9 YPC, and 6.0 yards per pass. Both lines have also protected, and sacked opposing QB's much better this year. Seattle clearly has the edge on both lines. Another stat that should have the Seattle secondary drooling is the fact that they're a bunch of ball hawks (12 INT's), while Bulger loves to throw the ball to player's in different colored uni's (
. Seattle doesn't have a divisional game until the last week in December, so a win here is a must for them to have any breathing room. This will be the ultimate shame on me if Seattle stings me once again, but everything I look at is screaming at me to take the risk. The Rams drop their third straight, and the Sea chickens win by double digits!!!

While New England may give up a lot of yards, Buffalo is a team that just does not score a lot of points. On the flipside, Buffalo does have a top 3 defense and their only hope in this game is to keep the number very low and work the clock to their advantage. The last meeting was high scoring, but it was an anomoly as there were 2 majors scored (kick return and fumble TD). This game goes under the total as Sunday night on ESPN once again proves to be the perfect tool to put the nation to sleep.
